How do I get paid?

All payroll is done through ACH deposits directly into your bank account. You receive your funds every other Friday.

How much will I earn each day?

Village Travel pays a flat rate based on how long you drive. We pay for “half days”, “full days” and “long days”. This is very simple and the days of keeping track of miles and time is over! You have no paperwork to turn in after each trip. Within each category you also receive per diem. Between earnings and daily per diem, you will earn between $170-$275 per day. You also keep all gratuities you may earn, and you also have the ability to earn a bonus each quarter which is based on performance and total idle time during that period. About 80% of all drivers earn the bonus.

Does Village use E-logs or paper logs?

E-Logs. Village will absolutely never ask you to run in excess of your hours of service regulations.

Can I work out of multiple offices? I have an RV and live anywhere.

We do have a couple drivers who move from location to location based on our needs and their desires. We also have a few drivers who work for us in the spring, summer and fall and then move south for the winter. We can work with this as long as it’s discussed prior to the offer of employment.

I really struggle with driving through the night. Will I have to do this?

Our customers choose when they want to leave and where from. Because of this, and our geographical location, we often travel through the night. If you struggle to see or stay awake at night, you will not be a good fit with Village.

I really need to have a steady paycheck. Is this possible?

For a few select types of trips we do, yes, but the vast majority of our drivers are doing charter work and in this line of work, there is no guarantee of income. Our business is very cyclical meaning we have very slow months like some of December, January and August and then some incredibly busy months like September-November and March-June. This is why our three types of employment work well. The full time employees usually stay pretty steady, the part time drivers are super busy some of the time and spent the slow months relaxing and the part-part time drivers usually only work on the busy weekends in the spring and fall and then during the summer.

I’m a school bus driver, can I do both?

Potentially, but what we find is that we really need drivers who can work more than just when you aren’t hauling around those little screamers! We suggest you coming on board as a part-part time driver helping out on the weekends and when school isn’t in session. With time, you’ll most likely find that you earn more in 2 days at Village than you do in 5 days in a yellow bus. We urge you to apply and learn more from our recruiter.

Will you train me if I don’t have a CDL?

While we prefer to hire drivers who already have their CDL, we at times, for an excellent candidate, will provide the training and bus to attain their CDL.

Do I have to wear a uniform?

Absolutely, we have a strict driver uniform policy which consists of black slacks, polished black shoes, a company provided tie and corporate shirt. You are welcome to wear a black dress cap or company provided Village ball cap.

Do I have the opportunity to take my spouse with me?

Unfortunately, no. They are welcome to join us at luncheons and employee events though, so that they can meet your coworkers!
