Day 1 // Portland, ME
Today we board a plane for the Pine Tree State of Maine to begin our journey north to the Canadian Maritimes.
Day 2 // Saint John, NB
This morning we will cross over U.S. / Canada border to New Brunswick, Canada. Continue with a tour of the “Loyalist City” of Saint John, famous for its Reversing Falls. Enjoy an included dinner this evening.
Day 3 // Charlottetown, PEI
Your day starts with traveling through Fundy National Park to Hopewell Rocks, site of the highest tides in the world. Later this afternoon, cross to Prince Edward Island on the Confederation Bridge, the world's longest continuous multi-span bridge. Drive to Charlottetown, your home for the next two nights, and enjoy an afternoon at leisure before an included dinner this evening.
Day 4 // Charlottetown, PEI
This morning, enjoy a walking tour of the city of Charlottetown. Then, tour the scenic North Shore of the island. Drive by red cliffs, white beaches, gently sloping sand dunes and green fields of Prince Edward Island National Park and visit Anne of Green Gables Heritage Place, the alluring inspiration of Lucy Maud Montgomery's classic books. Experience true Maritime hospitality this evening at a traditional hall-style lobster supper.
Day 5 // Baddeck, NS
This morning we will travel to Wood Islands and enjoy a 75-minute ferry ride to Nova Scotia and continue to Cape Breton, “The Scotland of America”. Drive to the village of Baddeck, summer home to Alexander Graham Bell, and present-day site of the Bell Museum dedicated to his life and work. After visiting the museum, continue to your lodging for a two-night stay.
Day 6 // Baddeck, NS
Today you will find out why Conde Nast Magazine voted Cape Breton one of the top ten most beautiful Islands in the world. You will travel on the Cabot Trail and Cape Breton Highlands National Park, taking the 186-mile route with its coastal views through the Highlands.
Day 7 // Halifax, NS
Depart Cape Breton Island and travel to Nova Scotia's capital city of Halifax where you will enjoy an afternoon city tour of the historic port city. This tour features the important sights from Halifax's early beginnings as a colonial fort to its present role as an international meeting site and the economic center for the Atlantic provinces. You will hear stories of Halifax during the war years, including the Halifax Explosion and the city's role in the recovery operations after the Titanic disaster. The tour will include the waterfront, historic downtown, St. Paul's Church, the universities, shopping and residential areas and a picture stop up Citadel Hill. Halifax is home for the next two nights.
Day 8 // Halifax, NS
This morning it is off to Peggy's Cove, Canada's third most visited tourist attraction. This village of 60 people is situated on solid granite rock above the crashing north atlantic surf. Your journey continues along the south shore to the Unesco World Heritage town of Lunenburg. Visit the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic to learn about the importance of the sea to Nova Scotia's way of life. Return to Halifax for an evening at leisure.
Day 9 // Yarmouth, NS
Today's adventure starts by travelling the Evangeline Trail, where your first stop of the day is Grand Pre National Historic Site dedicated to the Acadian people who were expelled from this area in 1755. Learn about the surrounding landscapes recent UNESCO World Heritage Site designation. From Grand Pre venture to Hall's Harbour, a picturesque fishing community located along the shore of the Bay of Fundy. Continue your journey to Yarmonth and enjoy an included dinner tonight.
Day 10 // Bar Harbor, ME
Enjoy breakfast this morning before you board the CAT ferry to return to Maine. We will enjoy some freetime in Bar Harbor before checking into our hotel overlooking the scenic bay.
Day 11 // Freeport, ME
This morning we tour of Acadia National Park Here, in the first national park founded east of the Mississippi, you will see 9 mountains over 1000 feet high, stone bridges, lakes, ponds, trails and carriage roads. You will ride along the entire Park Loop Road and wind your way to the top of Cadillac Mountain for stunning views. Enjoy crashing waves at Thunder Hole and visit Sieur De Mont Springs Wild Gardens of Acadia.
Day 12 // Home
