Itinerary
Day 1 // Anchorage, AK
The adventure begins with a flight to Anchorage. As the state’s largest city, Anchorage encompasses natural wonders and metropolitan appeal.
Day 2 // Anchorage, AK
A narrated trolley tour covers downtown Anchorage’s history and landmarks. After an included lunch, we visit the Alaska Native Heritage Center to learn the traditions of Alaska’s Native peoples.
Day 3 // Denali National Park, AK
Take in sweeping wilderness views aboard the Alaska Railroad’s Denali Star as you journey north to Denali National Park, where you’ll settle in for two unforgettable nights. Dinner tonight is at Denali’s Cabin Nite Dinner Theatre.
Day 4 // Denali National Park, AK
A narrated full-day trip takes us into Denali National Park, home to 20,310-foot Denali, North America’s tallest peak. A box lunch and dinner is included today.
Day 5 // Fairbanks, AK
We continue to Fairbanks and tour Gold Dredge 8, learning how gold mining built the city. Dinner is at the Alaska Salmon Bake.
Day 6 // Fairbanks, AK
We cruise aboard the Riverboat Discovery, watch a bush pilot take off from the river and visit the Chena Indian Village. After lunch, the Fountainhead Antique Auto Museum traces Alaska’s early motoring history.
Day 7 // Valdez, AK
We travel the Richardson Highway, Alaska’s first major road, stopping in North Pole at Santa Claus House.
Day 8 // Valdez, AK
We cruise Prince William Sound to Columbia Glacier, retreating into the Chugach Mountains, and learn the area’s mining, oil and fishing history. Dinner is included on board.
Day 9 // Anchorage, AK
We return to Anchorage by way of the Musk Ox Farm, a nonprofit caring for an Ice Age mammal that once lived alongside woolly mammoths. Dinner is included tonight.
Day 10 // Seward, AK
Travel the scenic Seward Highway along Turnagain Arm, one of America’s most breathtaking drives, where rugged mountains plunge into glacier-fed waters and beluga whales and Dall sheep are sometimes spotted along the way. We arrive in Seward, “Mile 0” of the historic Iditarod Trail. This afternoon we visit a sled dog homestead and meet the huskies.
Day 11 // Seward, AK
A narrated cruise through Kenai Fjords National Park passes tidewater glaciers and wildlife including seals, whales and puffins. A lunch is served on board.
Day 12 // Overnight Flight
We visit the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center and the ULU Factory, then board our overnight flight home.
Day 13 // Home
Arrive home with cherished memories from our tour of Spectacular Alaska.
