Day 1 // Little Rock, AR
Our journey south begins today on what has become one of our most popular tours
Day 2 // Meridian, MS
Vicksburg, a Mississippi River town on the border of two states, was a strategic necessity for both sides fighting the Civil War. Tour the Vicksburg Battlefield with a local guide to learn about this pivotal battle and the South's surrender here in 1863.
Day 3 // Savannah, GA
This morning, we'll say farewell to Mississippi and make our way to Savannah. The rolling southern hills and breathtaking landscape will captivate you.
Day 4 // Savannah, GA
The city of Savannah, Georgia is unlike any other. Citizens here decided to preserve the original architecture and layout of the city, making it oddly timeless and indescribably gorgeous. This morning, witness the unique beauty and rich history of Georgia's oldest city with a local guide on a tour showcasing cobblestone streets, historic squares, magnificent architecture and live oaks draped with moss. Perched along the banks of the Savannah River is Old Fort Jackson. A restored, nineteenth-century structure; walk on the parapet of the fort and investigate the structure's many nooks and crannies. Witness a cannon-firing demonstration of one of the largest functional pieces of Civil War–era heavy artillery in the United States. Tonight, feast on a delicious dinner to wrap up an amazing day.
Day 5 // Charleston, SC
Clippity-clop! Relive the past with a local guide during a Southern Rose Buggy Tour! Learn about Beaufort's Civil War History as we soak in stunning Antebellum and Victorian architecture. We'll even see some Hollywood movie sites during our delightful buggy tour. Enjoy an afternoon of free time in Beaufort along the winding and historic streets lined with centuries-old, moss-draped live oak trees. Dinner will be included this evening.
Day 6 // Charleston, SC
This morning, we'll take a city tour of one of America's most beautiful cities, Charleston. From Civil War sites to places made famous from Gone with the Wind, the tour will bring the city to life and showcase its colorful history. Then, experience the natural beauty of the South Carolina Low country as we explore one of America's oldest working plantations, Boone Hall Gardens, where crops have been growing for more than three centuries. Learn the many facets of the plantation's history and the influential role in the history of South Carolina. A delicious lunch is served here. Then, set sail on a harbor cruise from Charleston to Fort Sumter, which became a symbol of the emotional struggles of the Civil War. Learn what led to the first shots being fired and the immediate consequences for those in and around the fort.
Day 7 // Marietta, GA
Dive inside the mysteries of the deep at the Georgia Aquarium, home to more animals than at any other aquarium. Turn fear into fascination in the expansive new gallery dedicated to sharks and immerse yourself under the dolphin viewing window that captures the personalities of these mesmerizing mammals.
Day 8 // Chattanooga, TN
The Calhoun Rock Garden is as charming as one would imagine. Castles, churches, and cathedrals are crafted from dainty rocks sitting amidst an acre of flowers and greenery. This captivating folk artistry is sure to bring a smile to your face, as you take note of porcelain figures and stained-glass windows featured among the 50 individual rock structures throughout the garden. Enjoy delicious Southern fare for lunch. Located atop Lookout Mountain, just 6 miles from downtown Chattanooga, Rock City is a true marvel of nature featuring massive ancient rock formations, gardens with over 400 native plant species, and breathtaking “See Seven States” panoramic views. Lastly, we will board the Southern Belle Riverboat for a cruise along the Tennessee River.
Day 9 // Little Rock, AR
Travel towards home today, taking in the beauty of the Natural State. Arrive in Little Rock for the night. Dinner will be included this evening.
Day 10 // Home
We'll enjoy a warm welcome home after our grand experience of Southern hospitality.
