Day 5 // Ketchikan, AK
Lutching the shores of Tongass Narrows, much of the historic town of Ketchikan is built on trestles, docks and pilings right at the water's edge.
Day 6 // Sitka, AK
Sitka offers small-town appeal with a unique blend of Russian, Tlingit and American history. Snow-capped peaks create some of the state's most postcard-worthy scenes.
Day 7 // Skagway, AK
The gateway to the gold rush, Skagway's history is fascinating and brutal. The small downtown is the hub for many optional excursions that can bring you deeper into the culture and climate of early settlers.
Day 8 // Hubbard Glacier
Cruise past Hubbard Glacier this morning and notice the deep blue color of the glacier face. Unlike nearly every tidewater glacier on the continent, Hubbard is advancing, not retreating; it's forever pushing a little further into the bay.
Day 9 // Anchorage, AK
Disembark the cruise ship in Seward, Alaska, a quaint fishing port at the base of Mt. Marathon. Travel on a deluxe Village Travel motor coach for one of the most scenic drives in the country along Turnagain Arm. Dall sheep graze on the cliffs to the right as Beluga whales surface on the cool water to the left, the mountains of the Kenai Peninsula looming in the distance. Visit Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center where an expert guide shares information about the moose, brown bear and the center's many other inhabitants. Take an aerial tram to the top of Mt. Alyeska and enjoy lunch with a view. This afternoon, make our way to historic Anchorage for the first of a two-night stay.
Day 10 // Anchorage, AK
Hop on board a narrated trolley tour of downtown Anchorage this morning. Learn about the history, culture and modern life as we pass by significant sites. Then, we'll visit The ULU Factory. This unique knife, leftover from the ancient Eskimo culture, is one of Alaska's most noteworthy items. After gathering for a group lunch, gain an appreciation for the fascinating local culture with a visit to the Alaska Native Heritage Center. Discover how people survived the harsh climate with ingenuity and cooperation for over one-thousand years.
Day 11 // Denali National Park, AK
Travel on the iconic Alaska Railway for a scenic excursion further into Alaska's interior. Reserved Gold Star seating in the glass domed rail car highlights scenery that rivals last week's ocean views. Breakfast and lunch are served in the dining car. Spend the first of two nights at a lodge located on the outskirts of Denali National Park. Enjoy dinner with a side of laughter at Denali's Cabin Nite Dinner Theatre.
Day 12 // Denali National Park, AK
