Itinerary
Flowers, gardens, and history abound on this iconic tour to the south. Excite all the senses with Magnolia Market, San Antonio Botanical Gardens, an evening “Bat Cruise”, the iconic downtown Riverwalk, and more!
Day 1 // Waco, TX
Today is about covering some ground to begin our fun in Texas. Our first destination is Waco's Magnolia Market – home of the famous landmark silos owned by HGTV stars Chip and Joanna Gaines.
Day 2 // Austin, TX
Things start to get a little more interesting today. Lady Bird Wildflower Center should be full of spring colors this morning, and the LBJ Presidential Library after lunch will give you plenty to contemplate for the afternoon. The bat cruise is a true Austin staple. This evening we sail out to one of the best vantage points on the water to watch the Mexican free-tailed bats come out from under their bridge home for their evening hunt.
Day 3 // San Antonio, TX
Take another boat ride today, this time on a glass-bottom boat where you can see the fish, turtles, and spring aquafers bubbling up beneath you. Lunch at the historic Gruene Gristmill Restaurant will impress you with how they turned this industrial ruin into the beautiful dining venue it is today. This afternoon we check out the Alamo and learn about how the events here influenced the great city of San Antonio. Spend the evening exploring the Riverwalk area on your own.
Day 4 // San Antonio, TX
Japanese Tea Garden and the San Antonio Botanical Garden are our first stops this morning! Explore the Pearl area this afternoon and the charming ruins brought back to life as a thriving community space. A Missions tour this afternoon will give you a greater understanding of the history of the San Antonio, followed by more free time to check out anything on the Riverwalk you might have missed the night before. Day 5 // Comanche, TX
We will take a historic trolly tour of the city of Fredericksburg, TX this morning and enjoy a German-themed lunch before some free time in this unique city. More history awaits this afternoon, this time at the National Museum of the Pacific War, ranked as one of the top history museums in the country.
Day 6 // Fort Worth, TX
Texas is known for their spring bluebonnet wildflowers, so keep an eye out your window this morning as we head toward the Fort Worth Stockyards. Free time and a live cattle drive await us in this city of cowboys. Tonight we'll finish our southwestern experience off with a big finale….the Cowtown Coliseum rodeo!
Day 7 // Home
Our last day is for our journey home. Relax in comfort and watch the scenery fly by as we head north. We've had many unique experiences on this trip, made a lot of memories, and kicked our springtime off with a truly Texas-sized adventure!
