Itinerary

Day 1 // Lancaster, PA

Today we land in Philadelphia, beginning our Appalachian Mountain adventure of a lifetime!

Day 2 // Lancaster, PA

Today you'll get a sneak peek into the peaceful and rustic lifestyle of Lancaster's Amish people. Learn about Amish heritage and history on a guided tour of The Amish House and Farm and then take a picturesque ride through the countryside. Spend time exploring the 15-acre farm where there is fun entertainment for all ages. Enjoy a classic smorgasbord dinner and rest up for a full day of activities tomorrow!

Day 3 // Gettysburg, PA

Our first stop today is the town of Hershey, home to America's favorite chocolate! Get ready for a Hershey's Chocolate World adventure, which includes a chance to build your very own candy bar! Later in the day we'll visit one of the nation's most historic sites at Gettysburg. Take a guided tour of the Gettysburg Battlefield and stop into the visitor center to experience the place where in 1863, Union and Confederate forces fought the turning-point battle of the Civil War.

Day 4 // Lewisburg, WV

This morning arrive at Harper's Ferry, the National Historical Park sprawling across three states: West Virginia, Virginia and Maryland. The site of John Brown's Raid, the area is chock-full of Civil War history sure to pique your interest! This afternoon, take in the breathtaking autumn views along Skyline Drive, which runs along the crest of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Shenandoah National Park. Make sure to have your camera ready at the scenic stops along the way!

Day 5 // Lewisburg, WV

Go deep inside a mountain this morning on a tour of the Bunker at the Greenbrier—a declassified emergency Cold War fallout shelter that was reserved for the top secret relocation of U.S. government officials. A tasty lunch is provided today.

Day 6 // Elkins, WV

Ride through the dark passages of an early 20th century coal mine, guided by a veteran miner who will share their firsthand account of their occupation, as well as the rich history of the Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine. Explore the period coal camp buildings on the grounds, including the Superintendent's Home and the Helen Coal Camp School. Encounter the rugged beauty of the New River Gorge National Park, home to one of the newest national parks in the U.S.

Day 7 // Elkins, WV

All aboard the Green Brier Express for a relaxing vintage train ride through the mountain wilderness. Our locomotive will transport us through the State Park to the overlook at Bald Knob. Bald Knob is the third highest point in West Virginia, making for breathtaking views and amazing photos! This evening will conclude with exciting live entertainment and dinner at our resort.

Day 8 // Ashland, KY

Get your day started with admission to the West Virginia Railroad Museum in Elkins, a city that was built by the railroads. Next, we will tour the Palladian mansion and museum at Blennerhassett Island Historical State Park today. Accessed by sternwheeler riverboat, this state park is sure to be unlike any other you've visited!

Day 9 // Bowling Green, KY

Step onto a working horse farm and get an up-close look at daily life in Kentucky horse country. Watch the care and training that go into raising these magnificent animals while enjoying the peaceful bluegrass setting and rich equestrian tradition. Then sit down to a delicious southern-style lunch at a local landmark restaurant before continuing the journey back westward.

Day 10 // Sikeston, MO

Today we will explore the impressive National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, home to the only General Motors Corvette assembly plant in the world.

Day 11 // Home

Our lovely fall-time adventure comes to a close today as we arrive home with vibrant new memories of a trip to remember.
