Itinerary

Day 1 // Fairbanks, AK

Our Alaska adventure begins with a flight to Vancouver for the night.

Day 2 // Set Sail

A local guide shows us Vancouver, the jewel of Canada’s west coast. Then we board Royal Caribbean’s Anthem of the Seas. For the next seven nights, dining and entertainment are complimentary on board.

Day 3 // At Sea

As we sail the Inside Passage, watch for whales, otters and eagles against a backdrop of forests and fjords.

Day 4 // Ketchikan, AK

Much of historic Ketchikan is built on trestles and pilings at the water’s edge along Tongass Narrows. Perhaps explore the town at your own pace.

Day 5 // Icy Strait Point, AK

Tour the salmon cannery and learn how this coastal village has made its living from the sea.

Day 6 // Sitka, AK

Russian, Tlingit and American history blend in this small town. Its snow-capped peaks frame some of Alaska’s most postcard-worthy scenes.

Day 7 // Skagway, AK

Skagway was the gateway to the Klondike Gold Rush. Its small downtown is the hub for optional excursions into the lives of its early settlers.

Day 8 // Hubbard Glacier

We cruise past the deep-blue face of Hubbard Glacier. It is one of the few tidewater glaciers on the continent that is advancing rather than retreating.

Day 9 // Anchorage, AK

We disembark in Seward and board a deluxe Village motorcoach for the drive along Turnagain Arm, watching for Dall sheep on the cliffs and beluga whales in the water. At the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, an expert guide introduces us to moose, brown bears and more.

Day 10 // Anchorage, AK

A narrated trolley tour introduces downtown Anchorage. Then we visit The ULU Factory to see Alaska’s iconic knife, a tool with ancient Native roots. After a group lunch, the Alaska Native Heritage Center shows how its people thrived in a harsh climate for over a thousand years.

Day 11 // Denali, AK

We ride the Alaska Railroad’s Denali Star north to Denali National Park for a two-night stay. Tonight, enjoy dinner and laughs at the Cabin Nite Dinner Theatre.

Day 12 // Denali, AK

A narrated full-day trip carries us deep into Denali National Park. Along the way we look for North America’s tallest peak A box lunch is included, and we have dinner with the group tonight.

Day 13 // Fairbanks, AK

We visit a sled dog musher’s homestead to hear Iditarod racing stories and cuddle the pups. Then we arrive in Fairbanks for an authentic Alaskan dinner.

Day 14 // Overnight Flight

Board the Riverboat Discovery, where one family shares four generations of life on the river, before sitting down to a hearty lunch. In North Pole it’s Christmas year-round at the Santa Claus House. Then we head to the airport for our overnight flight home.

Day 15 // Home

We arrive home with stories to tell from the Best of Alaska, by land, rail and sea!
