Day 1 // Overnight Flight
We will board an overnight flight to Rome, where we will experience an unforgettable Italian adventure..
Day 2 // Rome, Italy
More than 2,000 years of history blend with elegant boulevards and lively piazzas in the Eternal City. After settling into our hotel, enjoy free time to explore at your own pace before meeting your local guide at a welcome dinner of authentic Italian flavors.
Day 3 // Rome, Italy
A local guide leads us through the treasures of the Vatican City, including the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel, where Michelangelo spent four years painting the ceiling’s frescoes. We continue to St. Peter’s Basilica before passing Circus Maximus and the iconic Colosseum. You will have Free time this afternoon, then dinner and a show this evening.
Day 4 // Capri, Italy
We travel south to Pompeii, the ancient city buried beneath volcanic ash when Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79 A.D., preserving its streets and villas for nearly two thousand years. From Sorrento, we ferry across the Mediterranean to glamorous Capri, known for dramatic cliffs and timeless charm, and settle in for two nights.
Day 5 // Capri, Italy
A guided orientation introduces Capri’s whitewashed streets and the famous Piazzetta. A scenic boat tour circles the island before we visit Villa San Michele, the cliffside home and gardens built by physician Axel Munthe in the early 1900s. Dinner tonight brings the peaceful evening atmosphere of Capri after the daytime crowds depart.
Day 6 // Assisi, Italy
Returning to the mainland, we stop in Perugia at Laboratorio Giuditta Brozzetti, where the generations-old hand looms still weave traditional Umbrian textiles. We continue into Umbria’s green hills to Assisi, the medieval hometown of St. Francis, for a traditional Umbrian dinner at a countryside agriturismo.
Day 7 // Venice, Italy
We visit the Basilica of St. Francis, its walls covered in frescoes by Giotto, before heading north toward Venice. Arriving in the city built on water, we ride a water taxi down the Grand Canal and glide through the smaller canals by traditional gondola as evening light settles over the city.
Day 8 // Venice, Italy
A boat ride across the Venetian Lagoon brings us to a traditional glassblowing demonstration, a craft tracing back to Murano’s medieval furnaces. We tour St. Mark’s Square, taking in St. Mark’s Basilica, the Doge’s Palace, and the Bridge of Sighs, then enjoy free time to wander Venice’s narrow lanes.
Day 9 // Montecatini, Italy
We leave Venice for the Tuscan countryside, stopping in Pisa to see the UNESCO-listed Piazza dei Miracoli and its famously leaning bell tower, begun in 1173. We continue to Montecatini Terme, an elegant spa town built around centuries-old thermal springs, for dinner at a local farmhouse.
Day 10 // Montecatini, Italy
Next, we will visit Florence, the birthplace of the Renaissance, we admire Brunelleschi’s dome atop the Duomo — an engineering feat unmatched for a century after its completion — along with the Baptistery and the shop-lined Ponte Vecchio. We gave some free time to explore before an evening farmhouse dinner with regional wines and olive oil tasting.
Day 11 // Rome, Italy
We visit San Gimignano, the “Town of Fine Towers,” where 14 of an original 72 medieval towers still rise above the skyline. After browsing artisan shops in Piazza della Cisterna, we return to Rome for a farewell dinner and a toast to our Italian journey.
Day 12 // Home
Our memorable Italian adventure comes to an end. We say arrivederci to Rome, Capri, Venice, and Tuscany, carrying home the ancient wonders, artistic treasures, and warm hospitality of Italy.
