Day 1 // O'Fallon, IL
Board the motorcoach and begin the journey to Washington, D.C., where history comes to life and the beautiful cherry blossoms add a splash of spring color throughout the nation's capital. Enjoy scenic views along the way as excitement builds for the memorable experiences ahead.
Day 2 // Louisville, KY
Welcome to Kentucky! We'll stop for lunch at the Derby Café before enjoying a guided tour of famous Churchill Downs, home of the legendary Kentucky Derby. Explore the historic grounds, learn about the rich traditions of “The Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports,” and take in the atmosphere of one of the most celebrated horse racing venues in the world.
Day 3 // Lexington, VA
Today, we enjoy a scenic drive through the beautiful landscapes of the Old Dominion, taking in rolling countryside and charming small towns along the way. This evening, we'll arrive in historic Lexington, Virginia, where we'll relax and overnight.
Day 4 // Glen Allen, VA
This morning, we'll tour Monticello, the iconic hilltop home of Thomas Jefferson. Explore the beautifully preserved estate, gardens, and exhibits while learning about Jefferson's life, accomplishments, and lasting impact on American history. Following our visit, we'll enjoy lunch at a historic tavern filled with colonial charm. This afternoon, we'll step back into Civil War history with a visit to the White House of the Confederacy, the former residence of Jefferson Davis and the executive mansion of the Confederacy. Discover fascinating artifacts and stories that offer insight into Richmond's important role during the Civil War.
Day 5 // Glen Allen, VA
Begin the day with visits to historic Jamestown and Yorktown, where the stories of America's early settlers and the nation's fight for independence come to life. Explore these important colonial sites while learning about the people and events that helped shape our country's history. Continue
to Colonial Williamsburg, where the past comes alive along charming streets filled with restored buildings, costumed interpreters, and demonstrations that capture the spirit of 18th-century America.
Day 6 // Alexandria, VA
Today, we head toward Washington, D.C., beginning with a guided tour of Mount Vernon, the beautifully preserved estate of George Washington overlooking the Potomac River. Walk through the historic mansion and explore the grounds, gardens, and outbuildings while learning about Washington's life, leadership, and legacy as the nation's first president. Lunch is included during our visit, allowing time to relax and take in the setting. This afternoon, enjoy a guided tour of Washington, D.C., featuring many of the capital's iconic landmarks, monuments, and historic sites. After a full day of sightseeing, we'll settle into our Alexandria hotel, where we'll stay for the next three nights.
Day 7 // Alexandria, VA
Begin the day with a visit to Arlington National Cemetery, a place of honor and remembrance where we'll see the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the changing of the guard, along with the resting place of many of America's heroes. This afternoon, take time to explore one of the many Smithsonian museums in Washington, D.C., offering world-class exhibits ranging from history and culture to science and art. This evening, we'll gather for a group dinner to conclude a meaningful and memorable day in the nation's capital.
Day 8 // Alexandria, VA
Visit the U.S. Capitol, the seat of the United States Congress and one of the most recognizable symbols of American democracy, where we'll learn about the nation's legislative process and history. Continue on to the Library of Congress, the world's largest library, renowned for its stunning architecture and vast collections of books, documents, and cultural treasures. This afternoon, visit Tudor Place, a historic Georgetown estate that offers a glimpse into more than two centuries of American history through its beautifully preserved home and gardens. Finish the evening with a group dinner at one of Washington, D.C.'s well-known and beloved restaurants, celebrating a full day of discovery in the capital.
Day 9 // Home
Depart Washington, D.C. for your flight home, carrying with you lasting memories of historic landmarks, meaningful experiences, and the stories brought to life throughout the journey. As you travel, reflect on the moments shared and the unforgettable sights that made this trip so special.
