Cruise through the upper Dells and take a horse-drawn carriage ride through Lost Canyon’s cliff-walled gorges. Step away from the splendid scenery to enjoy one-of-a-kind attractions and legendary entertainment.
Day 1 // Des Moines, IA
The day we’ve all been waiting for has finally arrived! Get to know your fellow travelers as we make our way to Iowa’s capital city of Des Moines, where we’ll stop for the night.
Day 2 // Dubuque, IA
Step into a well-preserved world with roots in Germany, during a guided tour of the Amana Colonies. During a communal era, this unique culture flourished in the USA for over 90 years. Explore the seven scenic villages and linger amongst the craftsmanship of yesterday. Peruse quality handcrafted products and a variety of quaint shops showcasing traditional woodworking, winemaking, wool weaving and delicious smoked meats and cheeses. A hearty lunch is served at Amana Ox Yoke Inn, where five generations of the Leichsenring family have worked, passing along traditional recipes. This evening visit the beautiful Stone Cliff Winery, overlooking the Mighty Mississippi. Take your seat for a night of intrigue, as we experience their very own Mystery Dinner Theatre performance!
Day 3 // Wisconsin Dells, WI
Get ready for an experience that will entertain, astound, and amaze at the House on the Rock. What began as a lofty retreat with an awe-inspiring view has become an architectural wonder, perched atop a towering, chimney-like rock rising 60 feet out of the highest hill. You’ll need walking shoes to tour this architectural wonder. Next, a horse-drawn carriage will take you on a ride through Lost Canyon, weaving between a mile of cliff-walled gorges. In some of the deeper parts, the sheer rock and sandstone wall have not felt the touch of the sun in more than 50,000 years. Dinner will be included this evening.
Day 4 // Wisconsin Dells, WI
Experience the natural beauty, history, and mystery of the Dells during a fascinating Upper Dells Boat Cruise. Traveling north, your boat cruises past towering cliffs ancient glaciers, and dramatic rock formations, revealing amazing sights at every turn. Explore hidden passages and witness incredible sights during shore landings at Witches Gulch and Stand Rock, site of the world-famous dog leap! The Circus World Museum is dedicated to preserving circus artifacts from days gone by. Original Ringling structures, circus wagons, vintage advertisements and more will keep us entertained as we peruse the 64 acres housing all their circus treasures! Tonight, indulge in a group dinner.
Day 5 // Des Moines, IA
This morning, we’ll have a shopping stop at the Carr Valley Cheese Company, famous for making cheese the old-fashioned way! Enjoy dinner before settling into our hotel tonight.
Day 6 // Home
As we travel home on the final day of this ever-popular tour, the beautiful Dells will linger in our memories.
