Itinerary
Embark on a spectacular tour of Iceland. The natural wonders and magnificent landscapes will mesmerize you! Experience epic waterfalls, pristine black sand beaches, gigantic glaciers and many opportunities to see the magical but elusive Northern Lights.
Day 1 // Overnight Flight
You’re on your way to Iceland, land of fire and ice, where lava fields and glaciers carve waterfalls and fjords. Ahead: three nights searching for the northern lights.
Day 2 // Reykjavik, Iceland
We open with a walking tour of old town Reykjavík: the harbor, city hall, the Parliament building, and the cathedral, dating to 1796. After dinner, an evening cruise into Faxaflói Bay hunts for the aurora borealis.
Day 3 // Vik, Iceland
The Golden Circle brings us to the Geysir geothermal area, Gullfoss waterfall, and Thingvellir National Park, where we stand on the crest of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. Stop at the Lava Exhibition Center and delve into Iceland’s past and present volcanic eruptions. We continue to Seljalandsfoss before reaching Vík, where our three-night Northern Lights watch begins.
Day 4 // Vik, Iceland
Reynisfjara’s black-sand beach and basalt cliffs lead to views of Dyrhólaey. We visit Skógar Museum, see Skógafoss waterfall, and close the day at Sólheimajökull glacier. The aurora search continues after dinner.
Day 5 // Vik, Iceland
We visit Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon, watching for icebergs and seals in its cold waters. After dinner, we resume our nightly watch for the northern lights.
Day 6 // Reykjavik, Iceland
We drive the Reykjanes Peninsula’s lava fields to the Blue Lagoon for a soak in its geothermal waters, then return to Reykjavík for a farewell dinner.
Day 7 // Home
We head home today with aurora-chasing memories of Iceland. Takk fyrir, Iceland!
