Itinerary

This getaway to Louisiana is packed with vibrant culture, rich history, and unforgettable experiences—from up-close marine encounters at the Shreveport Aquarium and the lively Soko Music Tour to exploring the historic Shadows-on-the-Teche, cruising through the scenic Cajun backwater swamps. The true highlight of the journey is experiencing the Mardi Gras celebrations, including attending several Mardi Gras Parades filled with dazzling floats, festive music, colorful costumes.

Day 1 // Frisco, TX

Our winter getaway is underway! We'll stop for lunch as we head down south.

Day 2 // Lafayette, LA

Our journey takes us further south today as we cross over into Louisiana. With over 300 species and 1,000 animals, guests can get up close and personal with sharks, seahorses, turtles, eels and many other amazing sea creatures and reptiles at the Shreveport Aquarium.

Day 3 // Lafayette, LA

This morning, experience the music and sounds of Louisiana on a Soko Music Tour. Learn the dances of the Fais do do and Mardi Gras as well as the history, tradition, and roots of Louisiana French music by those who know it best. Stop at the jewel in the crown of New Iberia, Shadows on the Teche. This antebellum mansion beckons another era, where the moss on the trees softens the pace and the atmosphere. This afternoon, enjoy an included Cajun lunch. A step-on guide will join us for a tour of Downtown Lafayette. This evening, you're in for a treat as you attend a family friendly Mardi Gras Parade.

Day 4 // Lafayette, LA

Transport back in time at Vermilionville Living History Museum and Folklife Park, one of the world's largest physical representations of an early Acadian settlement using original structures dating from 1765 to 1890 after lunch navigate through backwater swamps this afternoon on a Cajun Country Swamp Tour. Along the way, you'll encounter a variety of wildlife surrounded by ancient cypress trees adorned with garlands of Spanish moss. You may find a Great Blue Heron catching a fish, alligators sunning themselves, or a Black-crowned Night Heron with a bullfrog or snake in it's mouth! Enjoy dinner with a side of live music and dancing this evening with your fellow travelers.

Day 5 // Lafayette, LA

We'll start the day at a salt dome island, Avery Island, home to Tabasco Sauce and, consequently, Jungle Gardens. Created by one of the company's sons, the gardens are home to a wide array of animals and plants in surprising combinations. Alligators, deer and raccoons reside near azaleas, camellias and papyrus as well as the signature snowy egrets which started the preserve in the first place. The island's main resident, the Tabasco Sauce Factory, is ours to explore on a self-guided tour. Tour the Conrad Rice Mill, the oldest rice mill in the country, and visit the Konriko store for tasty souvenirs from the company's line of seasonings and rice blends. Dinner is included this evening.

Day 6 // Tyler, TX

Today is Mardi Gras, and we'll celebrate by attending another lively parade. Soak in the music, colors, and celebration one last time! Tonight, we'll enjoy a delicious Dinner together.

Day 7 // Home

Our Lafayette getaway may be over, but the memories will last a lifetime. Recount your favorite highlights as we travel north today
