Day 1 // Little Rock, AR
Our journey south begins today on what has become one of our most popular tours.
Day 2 // Meridian, MS
Vicksburg, a Mississippi River town on the border of two states, was a strategic necessity for both sides fighting the Civil War. Tour the Vicksburg Battlefield with a local guide to learn about this pivotal battle and the South’s surrender here in 1863.
Day 3 // Savannah, GA
This morning we say farewell to Mississippi and set our sights on Savannah, the rolling southern hills and breathtaking landscape unfolding along the way.
Day 4 // Savannah, GA
Savannah’s citizens chose to preserve the city’s original architecture and layout, leaving it oddly timeless and indescribably gorgeous. A local guide shows us cobblestone streets, historic squares, and live oaks draped in moss. At Old Fort Jackson, a restored 19th-century structure on the Savannah River. Dinner is included this evening.
Day 5 // Charleston, SC
Clippity-clop! A local guide brings the past to life on a Southern Rose Buggy Tour, tracing Beaufort’s Civil War history amid stunning Antebellum and Victorian architecture — including a few Hollywood movie sites. We enjoy free time along Beaufort’s winding, oak-lined streets before dinner this evening.
Day 6 // Charleston, SC
A city tour brings Charleston’s colorful history to life, from Civil War sites to Gone with the Wind filming locations. At Boone Hall Gardens, one of America’s oldest working plantations, crops have grown for more than three centuries — lunch is served here. We close the day with a harbor cruise to Fort Sumter, where the first shots of the Civil War were fired.
Day 7 // Marietta, GA
Dive inside the mysteries of the deep at the Georgia Aquarium, home to more animals than at any other aquarium. Turn fear into fascination in the expansive new gallery dedicated to sharks and immerse yourself under the dolphin viewing window that captures the personalities of these mesmerizing mammals.
Day 8 // Chattanooga, TN
The Calhoun Rock Garden is as charming as one would imagine. Castles, churches, and cathedrals built from stone sit amid an acre of flowers at the Calhoun Rock Garden, its porcelain figures and stained glass sure to bring a smile. Lunch features Southern fare. Atop Lookout Mountain, Rock City reveals ancient rock formations, 400 native plant species, and the “See Seven States” view. We close the day aboard the Southern Belle Riverboat for a cruise on the Tennessee River.
Day 9 // Little Rock, AR
Travel towards home today, taking in the beauty of the Natural State. Arrive in Little Rock for the night. Dinner will be included this evening.
