Itinerary

Day 1 // Vancouver, BC

Our Alaska adventure begins with a flight to Vancouver, gateway to the Inside Passage, for the first of two nights.

Day 2 // Vancouver, BC

A scenic ferry ride through the Gulf Islands brings us to Victoria. We explore Butchart Gardens, where Jennie Butchart turned a spent limestone quarry into a sunken garden more than a century ago. After free time on the Inner Harbour near the Parliament Buildings and Empress Hotel, we ferry back to Vancouver.

Day 3 // Set Sail

A local guide shows us Vancouver, including Stanley Park, which is larger than New York’s Central Park. This afternoon we board the Serenade of the Seas for seven nights. Meals and entertainment are complimentary while on board!

Day 4 // At Sea

We sail the sheltered Inside Passage, watching for whales, otters and bald eagles against a backdrop of forests and fjords.

Day 5 // Juneau, AK

Juneau is the only U.S. state capital that can’t be reached by road. Perhaps take a whale-watching cruise, go flightseeing over the icefields, or visit Mendenhall Glacier.

Day 6 // Icy Strait Point, AK

Next door to Hoonah, Alaska’s largest Tlingit village, you may wish to tour the restored 1912 salmon cannery or watch for bears and humpbacks.

Day 7 // Sitka, AK

Sitka was the capital of Russian America until 1867, when Alaska became American on Castle Hill. Perhaps visit St. Michael’s Cathedral or the totem-lined trails of Sitka National Historical Park.

Day 8 // Ketchikan, AK

Ketchikan is built on pilings along Tongass Narrows. You may wish to stroll Creek Street’s boardwalk and see the town’s famed totem poles in the “Salmon Capital of the World.”

Day 9 // At Sea

We cruise south through the Inside Passage on our final full day aboard the Serenade.

Day 10 // Home

We disembark in Vancouver and fly home with stories to tell, true Alaska Explorers!
