Itinerary
Day 1 // Colorado Springs, CO
Cross the border to the Centennial State, arriving at the foot of Pike’s Peak tonight.
Day 2 // Colorado Springs, CO
A local guide joins us at Manitou Cliff Dwellings, then Garden of the Gods, where 300-foot sandstone towers rise against Pikes Peak. Lunch is at the Trading Post. We close the day aboard the Pikes Peak Cog Railway, climbing to the summit of the southern Front Range. Dinner included.
Day 3 // Salida, CO
We admire the Royal Gorge Bridge, suspended over 1,000 feet above the canyon floor. After lunch, we raft the Arkansas River with an experienced guide, watching for wildlife along the banks as mountain scenery rolls by.
Day 4 // Copper Mountain, CO
We ride the Leadville Colorado & Southern Railroad through the San Isabel National Forest and the Arkansas River Valley, with views of Fremont Pass, Mt. Massive, and Mt. Elbert. Lunch is served aboard the train.
Day 5 // Limon, CO
The Georgetown Loop Railroad carries us up the canyon past horseshoe curves and the Devil’s Gate High Bridge, tracing the route of old gold and silver mines. After lunch, we tour the Molly Brown House Museum, home to the Titanic survivor and her family’s mining fortune.
Day 6 // Home
We descend from the mountains for home, our Colorado Choo-Choo adventure complete.
